★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ১৮৬১-র নভেম্বরে তিনি শেষ নিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন রাজভবনে। লেডির প্রিয় জায়গা ছিল ব্যারাকপুরে গঙ্গার তীর। অতএব ভোরবেলা ঘোড়ার শকটে ওঁর মরদেহ নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় সেখানে। ওঁর ইচ্ছেকেই সম্মান জানিয়ে অতঃপর সেই গঙ্গাতীরে যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদার সঙ্গে ওঁকে সমাধিস্থ করা হয়।
লেডির সমাধির করুণ দশা দেখে তার উপরে একটি ছাউনি তৈরি করে দেওয়া হয়, কিন্তু দুর্ভাগ্য, রঙিন পাথরের কারুকাজ করা সেই সমাধি সংরক্ষণ করা দুঃসাধ্য হয়ে ওঠে। ফলে সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়, কলকাতায় কোন নিরাপদ জায়গায় সমাধিটি স্থানান্তরিত করা হবে, কিন্তু দেহ শায়িত থাকবে ওখানেই। অতঃপর সেই সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী সেন্ট জন’স চার্চে জায়গা বাছা হয়।
ব্যারাকপুর থেকে মৃত্যুর পর ওঁর স্মৃতি স্থানান্তরিত হয়ে এখন রয়েছে সেন্ট জন’স চার্চে।
 He breathed his last in November 181 at Raj Bhavan. The Lady's favorite place was the banks of the Ganges at Barrackpore. Therefore, his body was taken there in a horse cart in the morning. Respecting his wishes, he was then buried on the banks of the Ganges with due dignity.
Seeing the miserable condition of the Lady's tomb, a canopy was built over it, but unfortunately, it was difficult to preserve the tomb, which was carved with colored stones. As a result, it was decided that the tomb would be shifted to a safer place in Calcutta, but the body would remain there. The decision was then made at St. John's Church.
His memory was transferred from Barrackpore to St. John's Church.

Lady Canning was died on the lap of Lord Canning in 1861 she was a great artist
After the death of of his wife lord canning every day came to his wife's tomb in the horse back ( that is the reason their is a statue of lord canning riding a horse)
And after one year Lord Canning also died

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ All of d governor general of India in British era liked latbagan..they spent long time in barrackpore..I visited several time on that Lord canning statue since my childhood. Earl canning 1856-1862,,his wife Charlotte died in barrackpore in 1861
