The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is an autonomous agency of the Government of India, set up in 1995 (Act 1988) and is responsible for management of a network of over 50,000 km of National Highways out of 1,32,499 km in India. It is a nodal agency of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. NHAI has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Space Research Organisation for satellite mapping of highways. The NHAI was created through the promulgation of the National Highways Authority of India Act, 1988. Section 16(1) of the Act states that the function of NHAI is to develop, maintain and manage the national highways and any other highways vested in, or entrusted to, it by the Government of India. On 10 February 1995, NHAI came into operations and was formally made an autonomous body. It is responsible for the development, maintenance and management of National Highways, totaling over 92,851.05 km (57,694.97 mi) in length. The NHAI is also responsible of the toll collection on several highways. Yogendra Narain was the first Chairman of NHAI in 1988. He is a retired IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. North–South and East–West Corridor National-Green-Highway-Mission In March 2010, Government of India issued a new list of numbered routes with rationalized and systematic numbering. The East-west oriented highways are numbered odd starting from North and increasing towards South e.g, NH 1, NH 3,NH 27 etc. The even numbered routes are, similarly, drawn vertically going north to south, with numbers increasing from eastern to western parts of India e.g, NH 2, NH 6, NH 44 etc. source: wikipedia

On 05/04/2022, 2:54 pm, while I was crossing toll from Delhi to Faridabad, I was crossing after greenlight and the message of tag ok the boomerang fell on my car. When I went back to the staff and manger over there, they were very rude and arrogant. First they said that your vehicle must be crossing without permission, show me the message of amount deduction in your phone. I said that it might take some time in flash of the message. Please suggest me and guide me in putting a complaint they didnot get me any no or mail I'd. When I asked their names, then too they refused and said me to go to NHAI building to complaint for the same. These two guys were simply trying to hush up saying it was all my fault. I moved on and in just few minutes I got the message of deduction of toll tax. Though I have formally complained at 1033.i am unsure about what NHAI is going to do in this context. Hitting of boomerang barrier would have caused injury as well besides the dents I have got on my car. Will NHAI do something to compensate me for my damages, agony and also the rough behaviour of the staff on duty?
