★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Jatra is a form of cultural expression that is dying in the time of multiplexes and big budget movies, and thats to the Govt. Of West Bengal to support it by this place.
This place may not be the epitome of perfection in everything, but Jatra is something not too sophisticated, and over-polished environment rather ruins it.
I love this place, and will recommend every Bengali people in Kolkata to go and experience this at least once, who says, you may like it more than the same old plotted larger than life movies at Inox, Cinemax etc.

Paschim Banga Jatra Academy is situated at Bagbazar area in North Kolkata. Government of West Bengal founded this Jatra Academy
for improving the culture of Jatra as well as
to shelter the Jatra Artist and connected technicians. In every year a Jatra Utsab performed by different Jatra Dal (parties). This Jatra Utsab (occasion) continue for one month. At that time jatra lovers people attend the said Jatra mancha
and enjoy the Jatra one of the oldest folk culture of Bengal. The said Paschim Banga Jatra Academy stands on Bagbazar where there are a historical background. Great dramatist and actor Girish Chandra Ghosh born in Bagbazar. His resident is near to Jatra
Academy Hall. River Ganga is walkable distance to Paschim Banga Jatra Academy.
Beside Jatra Academy there is an another Theatre Hall which is also founded by Govt.of West Begal. The name of this Hall is
Girish Mancha. There are a lot of conveyance
to reach at Paschim Banga Jatra Aademy.
Such as Autos, Buses, Cabs and even feri services. As a resident of North Kolkata I feel
proud that Paschim Banga Jatra Academy is bagbazar . Congratulation Govt. Of West Bengal.
