Kite Museum is a beguiling sightseeing spot of the city that displays around 125 kites. Kite Museum gives an enticing experience especially to children. Also known as Patang Kite Museum, the small museum is dedicated to kites and kite flyers. It holds kites from the ancient times till modern period. Kite flying is a significant part of Gujarat’s celebrations and festivals. During the festival of Uttarayan or Makar Sankranti the sky is full of colourful kites being driven by people of all ages. Irrespective of their caste, creed and religion people start flying the kite for several days before Uttarayan.

Located on Bhagtacharya road, Kocharab, Paldi at Ahmedabad, the kite museum is a nice place, especially for kids to see first hand the beautiful art of kites. Gujarat is synonymous with kite flying during the Uttarayan festival. During this time of the year, the sky is rendered colorful with kites flying all over the sky in unimaginable sizes, shapes, & color. Irrespective of caste, creed, or religion, Gujaratis fly kites during this festival. The museum is located within Sanskar Kendra, designed by Le Corbusier. It is mentioned that the thought of setting up such a museum came to Sri. Bhanubhai Shah when he gave away his collection of kites to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, which also incidentally manages the place. The museum also has display of several historical aspects of kite flying since the ancient times. It's astonishing to read about the different types of kites from other parts of the world & how this art has evolved over the ages. The museum is easily accessible by different modes of transport. Overall, a beautiful place to visit with kids. ??????

Maintained quite poorly, the shelves don't seem to have been cleaned for a long time. The place is quite dark, inadequate & improper lighting system. Managed inefficiently & needs lots of improvements to prove to its claim of being 2nd largest kite museum in the world(1st one at Japan).

3 stars because it was closed and I have no clue What's inside. However I was able to spot some beautiful old rock art. Again these beautiful sculptures were very amazing to look at but there was no history or details written anywhere around. All we can do is imagine what could it have been in the past. Maybe if they do some more work on it, I will prefer going there again.
