The place is very beautiful and well maintained. The architectural ruins from the period of Ashoka are of prime interest to anyone who wants to study India's ancient history. The place is easily accessible from varanasi by car or autorickshaw.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's one of those must visit locations in Varanasi. It was a very likeable place probably for many reasons. Although most of the temple structure is destroyed ASI has still done a tremendous job of making what's left a very connecting experience for a learned traveler. The history of the place is magnificent and it speaks for itself. All Buddhists find tremendous traction with this.
The place itself is very serene and easy to exploration, a guide is recommended.
I won't speak the obvious but if history moves you the single standing stupa will move your soul.
