★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The two things I do not like are non-availability of Tea and a decent washroom. It has the old Kolkata ambience and flavour. Food is okay. Importantly it is at the heart of Gariahat crossing only to negotiate 20 odd stairs. Most of the time you will find it quiet enough to have a personal chat with your group.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quality of the food has dropped , they had some good mutton dopiaza, which is almost gone these days.
The Fry's, moghlai etc are not up to the mark.
Still one can enjoy the old school ambiance in the name of cabin culture here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fish Kabiraji from Purbani Restaurant Kolkata (Near gariahat more, located on the first floor, beside Basundhara)..This is a very old place, I used to come here with my mother, most of the time when we went shopping..The place is shabby, has no A.C., but I did like their food! They make wonderful Kabirajis(Fried fish/chicken/mutton in egg net) and Moghlai Parathas.. Went there after a long time, the condition more or less remains the same, but the food quality has dropped a bit..Still I would say their Kabirajis are better than most!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On a cloudy afternoon followed by a roam at Gariahat, this place was nearby. Had been hearing about this place for quite a while now.
Took Mughlai Parathas.
Too oily, tastes average. Pretty much filling.
Ambience is of 80s. Soft old songs will fill your ears.
Costs Rs 120! And for what? An average taste, okish filling in the paratha, no AC, GST, too tough to be in on sunny days.
Simply overpriced. There are better places around who can get you a lot better at this price or even at less prices with AC. Unless you have an attachment or too precious memories with this place, it's no use coming here without an emergency.
