★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Established in 1949, this secondary school has a long history of producing bright scholars of Serampore every year. This school has two parts, primary (class 1-4) and secondary (class 5-10). I spent 10 years of my school life here long back. In our time, the school was renamed from 'Town Academy' to 'Malina Lahiri Boys' Academy' (named after the wife of it's founder Late Jitendra Nath Lahiri). That time, the teaching staff and the quality of education in this school were regarded as one of the best in entire Hooghly district. However, with time, I believe many things have been diluted and thus the importance of this school in the education map of Bengal has also diminished. The school administration doesn't bother to keep in touch with the alumna of this school who are renowned in the field of higher education. Nevertheless, my well wishes are always with this school.
