Superb trail. You can see lots of insects, butterflies, flowers. Several plants are interesting and different. View is awesome. Best time to visit is rainy season. Don't miss it. We saw biggest moth in the world, Atlas moth here.

The trail is pleasant and works well for all age groups . Try booking one on weekdays since it's fairly crowded on weekends. Some easy ( not really ) spoting include shama, golden oriole, shikra, ticklers blue flycatcher, bee-eater, sunbirds...

Great place to go with family and friends. Easy trail, the stream is a treat for children and adults alike. Lots of greenery, insect life during the monsoon season. Just make sure that you book your tickets a couple of days prior to the visit.

Lovely experience .We can see how humans can protect the most important and precious thing we have. When u finish the walk and when u go out u realize what mess we have created. The naturalist was very informative and made the walk very interesting.

Shilonda Trail Shilonda is situated in the womb of SANJAY GANDHI NATIONAL PARK (SGNP), Borivali, Mumbai. One can reach gate of SGNP from Borivali Railway Station (Western Railway) by either BEST bus service or by auto rickshaw. The entry ticket to get in SGNP is β‚Ή 49 (adult). From the entrance Shilonda is 2-2.2 km deep inside dense forest. Various ways of transportation is available to reach shilondaby bus (β‚Ή 15), Jeep (β‚Ή 75)(charges are for one way journey) and by rented bicycle (β‚Ή 200- 4 hours) I will suggest either to take your own private vehicle (extra charges at entrance) or walk down the dense forest on concrete roads enjoying the mother nature, it takes approximately half hour to reach shilonda by walking from entrance. (All the transportation are towards Kanheri caves, one needs to get down in between near shilonda point entrance if they choose to take a transport vehicle) Shilonda is the most diverse hot-spot for flora and fauna in SGNP so this place is restricted for normal visitors. One need to procure permission letter if they wish to go on shilonda trail. Permission is easily available for college group students who are accompanied with their teachers and also other wildlife of nature club members. The best time to visit is during rainy season as you can enjoy in the rivers which are full with water. The water level is usually upto 4-5 feets deep which usually safe during normal rain, but please do not venture in the during heavy rain. Carry some light snacks and fruits and plenty amount of water.

Can't get a better experience of being close to nature in Mumbai. An easy trail which is perfect for families with younger kids. A naturalist does accompany on the trail as per the park rules, which is a good experience. We saw a lot of bugs, spiders, butterflies, crabs and a sambar deer upclose. There is a stream at the end of the trail. Possible to take the car all the way to the starting point.

A short trail for beginner levels where the trail is basic surrounded by lot of greens and fauna. This place has so much learning to offer in terms of variety of plants and the bio life. Hire a guide at the SGNP information center to reach this place. Also best time to visit this place is during monsoon as the water streams are beautiful to see that time

Amazing... Easy trail... SGNP forest guides are a must and they are so well informed... The bus picks you up at 7am or 8am depending on your slot and then after a 10min ride, it's an easy walk upto the natural water stream... Along the walk we are told about different leaves, trees, and saw many spiders and butterflies and fresh water crabs! Must do
