It is an ancient Hanuman temple located on the Jakhoo hill, which is the tallest of the seven hills that make up Shimla. It plays host to one of the tallest Hanuman statues in the world. The temple is at a height of about 8050 feet above MSL. It is accessible by walk, vehicle & ropeway. Visitors are advised to guard against monkeys that throng the shrine in hundreds and snatch anything that is not fixed, so please save your mobile phones, prasad sachets, spectacles etc. Myth says that Hanumanji rested here during his search for the SANJEEVANI herb necessary for the revival of Lakshman, who had been mortally wounded in battle. Hanumanji is believed to have met the sage YAAKU here, who, myth attributes to the construction of a shrine at the spot. The temple is open a through the day and night every day of the year. The statue was installed in 2010. Devotees throng the temple throughout the year, but more so during the Dusshera festival.

Hanuman temple is located at the highest peak of Shimla. While going to bring Sanjeevani booti, lord Hanuman had stayed here. To reach here, you may get into the cable car available from The ridge or walk upto the top point. Path isn't that easy. It's very steap climb. If u don't have much endurance, I would recommend to go via cable car. We climbed up but our endurance was tested. After reaching at the temple, it was worth it. Be aware of monkeys and try not to keep anything in hands. Views are amazing.Go and enjoy the beauty of Shimla from the top.
