Around 500 years ago Haridas Maharaj was a great devotee of Lord Krishna who used to meditate on Lord at Yamuna banks in Vrindavan. His sole objective was to do darshan of Lord Krishna..after lot of tears he shed in desire to see Lord, Krishna appeared before him .Haridas Maharaj couldn't blink his eyes after having darshan of Lord Krishna. Krishna instructed him to go to Puri and get his idol which was to be replaced by new idols in Puri before Ratha Yatra. Lords wish was to get settled at Yamuna Bank in Jagannath form . Haridas Maharaj reached Puri and told the pujaris but they refused and asked to speak to the king Prataprudra. The king also denied saying that Jagannath has not given him any instruction for the same and he cannot change the ritual . Haridas Maharaj cried and sat in lord's meditation and didn't take any food and water. Lord Jagannath appeared in the dream of the king and scolded the king for disrespecting his devotee and commanded him to send him along with his brother and Sister to Vrindavan with him. King later asked for forgiveness from Haridas Maharaj and sent Lord in great chariot. Haridas Maharaj got the idols placed at the same place where Lord Krishna first gave him darshan. Since then the temple is standing and Lord Krishna enjoys the love and devotion in Jagannath form at this place. The temple is situated very close to Keshi Ghat and near to Tatitya sthan on the main parikrama marg...one is sure to get mesmerized by lords darshan and simplicity of the pujaris and devotees doing the daily seva..jai Jagannath..jai Jai Shri Radhey...
