★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Markendeya Ashram is the most ancient Place/Ashram near Mata Narmada Temple where sage saptakalpa jibi Markendya fulfilled his austerity. He was the person who identified Mata Narmada for the first time during his austerity. Now on the temple worship of a five faced Shivalinga is done. The place of austerity under the tree is out side of the temple and maintained well. Total area of the Ashram is large in size and it is one of the spot for local sighteseeing of Amakantak tourists.
