Divine Experience. Must visit. It is a place where 16th century saint Thakura Haridas lived. There is a 500 years old Tree planted by Lord Chaitanya himself. Very important place in Gaudiya Vaishnavism.

Hare krishna. .... A holy and wonderful place for spiritual intention. Every year on Bhadrava Sukla paksha Chaturdasi the annual ceremony " Sri Haridas Thakur Niryan Mahotsava" is celebrated with Akhanda Nama Sankirtanya.

"Srila Haridasa Thakura began living in the hut given to him by Sriman Mahaprabhu. There, he daily chanted three lakhs of harinama, while immersed in bhava (spiritual emotion). Each day, after attending the early morning arati of Sri Jagannatha-deva, the Lord would visit Srila Haridasa Thakura to give him His darsana. It is said that Sri Jagannatha-deva's pujari once gave Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu a bakula datuna (a twig from a bakula tree, used for brushing one's teeth) that had been offered to Jagannatha. When Mahaprabhu went to Srila Haridasa Thakura's hut, He planted that twig in the courtyard. Within moments, it grew into a giant tree. That tree became famous by the name Siddha-bakula. Even today, people call Srila Haridasa Thakura's place of bhajana `Siddha-bakula,' and this same bakula tree still mercifully gives its darsana there. Some say that Sriman Mahaprabhu planted the twig on the day of Caitra-sankranti in March. Therefore, even now, a festival called danta-kastha-ropana (planting of the tooth-brush twig) is celebrated on that day in Siddha-bakula." Excerpt from the book 'Namacarya Srila Haridas Thakura - His Life and Teachings' by Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja

Auspicious place? Srila Haridasa Thakur was a great devotee of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He was borne in a Muslim family but because of his devotion towards Krishna, he was rejected by his family. He chanted and prayed in this place. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu visited Srila Haridasa everyday. One day he gave Haridasa a Bakula twig (the twig he used to brush his teeth). And planted the twig. The twig grew into a giant Bakul tree. And Srila Haridasa chanted in the holy shade of the Bakula plant. If you are in Puri and you have got time, visit this place. It is close to the Jagannath temple.
