★ ★ ★ ★ ★ కుక్కుటేశ్వరస్వామి ఆలయ సముదాయంలో పురుహూతికా దేవి ఆలయం ఉంది. ఇది అష్టాదశ శక్తి పీఠాలలో ఒకటి. భారతదేశం లోని అష్టాదశ మహా శక్తి పీఠములలో ఒకటైన హుంకారిణీ శక్తి పీఠం ఈ కుక్కుటేశ్వరుడి దేవళంలో ఉండేది. పుస్తకాలలో, పురాణాలలో కల ఈ పీఠం కాని, ఆ శక్తి విగ్రహం కాని ప్రస్తుతం కానరావు. ఈ పీఠం మూలంగానే పిఠాపురానికి పీఠికాపురం అనే పేరు వచ్చిందని అంటారు. ఈ హుంకారిణీ శక్తి విగ్రహం రైలు స్టేషనుకి ఎదురుగా ఉన్న మట్టి దిబ్బలో భూస్థాపితమై ఉన్నదని లోక ఐతిహ్యం ఉంది. పురావస్తు పరిశోధక శాఖ వారు తవ్వకాలు జరిపించి చూస్తే కనిపించవచ్చని ప్రజలు అనుకొంటారు.
Purukhuthika Devi Temple is located in the Kukkuteshwaraswamy Temple complex. It is one of the octaves of power. Hunkarini Shakti Peetham, one of the Asthadasha Maha Shakti Peethas of India, is located in this Kukkutteswara temple. This pedestal in the books and legends is not a power idol. It is said that Pithappuram got its name Peethakapuram. Legend has it that this idol of the Hunkarini Shakti is situated in the mound opposite the railway station. People think the archaeological department may look at them as they dig.
