★ ★ ★ ★ ★ it is by the name of Devi Dhakeshwari the city of Dhaka is named. but despite of her origin in Bangladesh, she dwells here in kolkata admist the lanes of kumartuli after Indo-Bangladesh partition. It is said that raja Ballal sen of Sen dynasty made this idol of ashtadhatu dashabhuja mahishamardini. The morning and evening arati of devi maa is astounding and one feels the presence of her while meditating lonely.

So this is a vey sacred temple.
People must visit this temple and have darshan .

The idol here is the original one 800 years old actually even more from the Dhakeswari mandir in Bangladesh....
She was brought to kolkata by refugees along with them during partition of India....
It is a must visit place....

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Built right after partition to house the 800 year old Astadhatu idol of Dhakeshwari.
This temple is tucked away in the by lanes of Kumartuli.
Regular Puja is still performed but most of the time it is deserted though Aarati takes place promptly at 7 P.M which is very unique as there is no one about but some locals.
