The museum has an exquisite collection of Bengal's archaeological artefacts and paintings ranging from the Stone Age to the modern age (early 20th century AD) The museum complex houses the Office of the Heritage Comission, which is housed in an erstwhile bungalow of a zamindar, fully refurbished and restored. This is not accessible to visitors. The second building houses the museum complex. The museum focusses on the artefacts found in the districts of Uttar Dinajpur, Medinipur, Birbhum, Malda and Bankura districts, including the famous site of Chandraketugarh. The museum houses terracotta, stone and metal artefacts, including 2 massive copper plate inscriptions from the Pala Dynasty. The museum is air-conditioned and the ticket costs just ₹5 per head.

I loved there. Went three times. So much to learn. Take 4-5 hrs so that u can read all. For those who love postcard swap, there are postcards available for you to buy with different things to buy. So much of archeological details... Monday is off day... Sunday open so is Saturday... National holidays remains closed...
