This is a wonderful walk where the hosts gives us we'll researched information on the history and heritage of the ghats by the Ganges river in Kolkata. The walk is fun and both Atreyee and Poulamee do not bombard us with information to overwhelm anyone. I highly recommend this walk to all who wants to explore Kolkata

The Exploring the Dying Ghats Walk was not only interesting, but also revealed a lot more about the city and its history than we were aware of. The organisers were extremely friendly, and were open to new suggestions. Looking forward to attending more walks with The Ganges Group!

I went for the Palace Walk with them. It was a voyage back in time, punctuated with interesting anecdotes and a whole lot of information. Members of these families whose palatial mansions we visited also accompanied us on the walk and that was the highlight of the day. To listen to their stories was like reliving history. Such grandeur, such richness of cultural heritage would make anybody proud! Thank You Ganges Walk for making my wintry morning so utterly unforgettable!

One early morning we set out to explore a different side of the Ganga alongside the narrow lanes of Calcutta. The best part about the walk was that it wasn't hurried, numerous anecdotes, personal exchange of information and a unique symbiosis of tales we love about the city of joy and shared experiences made this walk special and memorable.

Today we did the Palace walk with Ganges Walk Kolkata . A thorough research work was done by Atreyee and Poulami . They found out the hidden gems lying uncared, unattended in the heart of Kolkata and meticulously jotted down their history. These magnificent but dilapidated structures are the witness of past glory of Kolkata , the second one important city of British empire. Most of the sites are burdened with litigation , encroachment, commercial exploitation. They are deformed, defaced in name of commercialisation, restoration pr simply demolished and got ven to promoters. Some of the family members are still trying to fight an apparently lost battle. Had it been in any other city, all these buildings would have been preserved in name of History, in name of beauty , in name of pride that was a city called Calcutta, aka Kolkata

The people who curate this walk have a genuine passion for the history of this city. They work extremely hard to research, document, and speak to an endless number of people to make the walk happen, and make it an informative experience. I went on The Palace Walk with them, and saw a side of Calcutta that I hadn't seen before. I saw astounding colonnaded mansions tucked away between dinghy unassuming lanes of Pathuriaghata. I also learned about the varied, yet interconnected legacies of their renowned occupants - the Tagore, Mullick, and Ghosh families. How their personal histories shaped so much of the city which grew around them. I had an excellent day. The five hours I spent with them flew by quite fast.

I was oblivious to many parts of our heritage until i took this ganges walk. Super experience and stand out thing about poulomee and atreya, our guide were the intricate details they presented to us. Would love to go for more such walks in future with them.
