★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On Sunday Feb17 thI hired a driver for the day. It was 2,500 rupees. I met my driver at the India Tourism office this location around 11:30 am. I was to have the driver for the day till 6 pm (as I started late). Normally it is to 5:30 pm.
My driver did not have navigation, he did not know where apple store ( around corner from Tourism office) was located. And all the things I had wanted to see and is the reason I booked with a driver were too busy as it was a Sunday and these pRticular spots were free which made them very busy. So we couldn’t get close to these monuments. In addition he did not know the names of any of the buildings . He did not know where to take me.he knew the museum but I did not need a driver to wait for me as I visited a museum. And then he felt he was finished at 4 ish in the afternoon since it didn’t know what to show me. I went home.
I was very disappointed both in the driver but more importantly with India Tourism office. I felt ripped off!! It was a very unpleasant experience. Plus the office made me give them a tip in advance of 100 ru.
I strongly suggest you avoid this place.
Otherwise my travels thru India over 7 weeks has been perfect.

All of those so-called government agencies are fake and they will try to sell you incredibly expensive tours. Even if they appear to be nice in the first place, don't let them lure you. All they want is to ripp you off. If you are looking for a train ticket, The ONLY place you want to go is inside of the train station, first floor, there is a specific office with counters for tourists. Don't go anywhere else. There are scams everywhere, even inside of the train station. Don't listen to anyone untill you get to the FIRST FLOOR INSIDE OF THE TRAIN STATION. Safe travel to you all !!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ SCAM SCAM SCAM! “Ordinary” locals will stop you in the street, ask where you are from and chat away. They will say the city is dangerous, don’t use the maps on your phone because someone will snatch your phone and instead head to the “official” ministry of tourism office where they look after tourists and will give you free maps. It’s all a SCAM!!! They should be reported to the police. Inside has a load of fake awards and certificates that they will show you and will try to sell you tours, private drivers etc... All over priced and probably won’t turn up if you booked them. Their attitude changes the minute you say no and go to leave!!! Awful scam right across Delhi.

Please don’t go in there. If someone takes you there. Just say no.
I hope you can read this first before doing in. They will offer you something nice and beautiful and you’ll get something totally different.
Stay away from these people and go by yourselves or get a proper agency.
They will say they are an agency sponsored by the government but they are not.
So just say no thanks and be happy.
