★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Yogoda Math at Dakshineswar by the river Ganga is founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1939. It is the headquarters in India of Yogoda Satsanga Society of India and its schools, centres, and ashrams in various parts of India. Yogoda Satsanga Society of India is legally affiliated with the international headquarters – Self-Realization Fellowship in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.
Paramhansa Yogananda inspired by his Guru Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri started this organization with seven children at Dihika, Asansol, Barddhaman, Bengal with the generosity of Sir Manindra Chandra Nundy, the Maharaja of Kasimbazar, Murshidabad.
It was inaugurated on March 22, 1917, the auspicious occasion of the (Spring) equinox. A year later in 1918 Paramhansa Yogananda moved the fast-growing school to Ranchi, through the generosity of Sir Manindra Chandra Nundy. The Kasimbazar Palace in Ranchi became the main building of the new school, which he named Yogoda Satsanga Brahmacharya Vidyalaya
