Amer Fort View Point - Jaipur

Historic place, awesome view while raining. Must visit It is about 13 km or 20 minutes northeast of Jaipur's city center. It is open daily from 8 a.m. until 5.30 p.m. A popular way of reaching the top of Amber Fort is to ride on an elephant from the car park to Jaleb Chowk.

Mughal architecture greatly influenced the architectural style of several buildings of the fort.[7][8][9] Constructed of red sandstone and marble, the attractive, opulent palace is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard. It consists of the Diwan-e-Aam, or "Hall of Public Audience", the Diwan-e-Khas, or "Hall of Private Audience", the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over a water cascade within the palace. Hence, the Amer Fort is also popularly known as the Amer Palace.[4] The palace was the residence of the Rajput Maharajas and their families. At the entrance to the palace near the fort's Ganesh Gate, there is a temple dedicated to Shila Devi, a goddess of the Chaitanya cult, which was given to Raja Man Singh when he defeated the Raja of Jessore, Bengal in 1604. (Jessore is now in Bangladesh).[3][10][11] Raja Man Singh had 12 queens so he made 12 rooms, one for each Queen. Each room had a staircase connected to the King’s room but the Queens were not to go upstairs. Raja Jai Singh had only one queen so he built one room equal to three old queen’s rooms. This palace, along with Jaigarh Fort, is located immediately above on the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of the same Aravalli range of hills. The palace and Jaigarh Fort are considered one complex, as the two are connected by a subterranean passage. This passage was meant as an escape route in times of war to enable the royal family members and others in the Amer Fort[12] to shift to the more redoubtable Jaigarh Fort.[4][13][14] Annual tourist visitation to the Amer Palace was reported by the Superintendent of the Department of Archaeology and Museums as 5000 visitors a day, with 1.4 million visitors during 2007.[1] At the 37th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in 2013, Amer Fort, along with five other forts of

Amer Fort is very beautiful and architectural fort in India. Amer fort is located 11 kms away from Jaipur City reached by Bus or taxi easily. Sunset is very beautiful and charming from fort.

One of the top tourist attractions of Jaipur, the huge Amer Palace Fort sits atop a small hill, and is located at a distance about 11 km from the main city. The magnificent Amer Fort is an extensive palace complex that has been built with pale yellow and pink sandstone, and with white marble, that makes it very and very attractive for all visitors. The fort is divided into four main sections that are graced with their own courtyards. As you arrive at the Amer Fort, you will enter through the Suraj Pol; unless you arrive by car, then you enter via the Chand Pol. Both these gates open into the Jaleb Chowk, which is the main courtyard, where in earlier times, returning armies used to display their plunder to the people. The fort has a number of sections, including the King’s quarters, the zenana (where the women lived), gardens, temples, etc. There are a lot of attractions for one to see at the Amer Fort, including the diwan-e-aam, such mandir, and the Sheesh Mahal. Amer Fort is also home to some underground tunnels that connect Amer to Jaigarh Fort. A part of these tunnels has been restored, and is now open to public as well. Encompassing all this, the Amer Fort is a perfect example of Rajasthani architecture which is a must-visit.

This is nice fort and situated at hill top.The hill on which Amber or Amer Fort stands is called Cheelon ka Teela – meaning the hillock on which the eagles live. It was first built by the Meenas who are now classified as tribals way back in 10th CE. However, its fortunes changed when Raja Man Singh took it over and built a formidable fort some time in early 17th CE.

Wonderful fort. You don't have to trek the hill to get there, stairs are available and you can go on jeep or elephant as well. If you're on a scooter, you can drive it up the stairs. Crowded at all times, but try visiting on weekdays and before sunset- the stairs are steep and not very safe in the dark.

Very amazing and huge place with very charming views surrounding. Great architecture design and beautiful historical site. Some area still in repairing, but overall considered well maintained. We wish the place will keep maintained and well preserved. There are many ways to access to the amber port + amber palace: by own vehicle to the top, or rental a off-road jeeps and by elephant ride. The road to top is very steep and a bit narrow, the parking also full, though we visit on weekdays. Suggested to rent a jeep or elephant ride, so you don't need to concern about parking and safety while driving. Where were very happy to visit and see the beautiful design and scenery surrounding.
