Very nicely built memorial for Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at kolhapur. The location had been known as Ardha Shivaji putala for it's statue of the king.

This is also knows as Nivrutti Chowk. I came across this place due to the Davangiri Dosa shop located here. The statue itself is renovated in recent past and looks beautiful.

A very beautiful known place from kolhapur. Can be considered as a Landmark. People use this place name usually to refer the address. Mahalaxmi temple and Rankala lake are nearby kolhapur attraction points from this place. Recently, this place has been beautifully renovated by the government. It looks quiet amazing. Whole area got beautiful due to this renovation.

Shivaji Bhonsle I (Marathi [ʃiʋaˑɟiˑ bʱoˑs(ə)leˑ]; c. 1627/1630 – 3 April 1680[3]) was an Indian warrior king and a member of the Bhonsle Maratha clan. Shivaji carved out an enclave from the declining Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur that formed the genesis of the Maratha Empire. In 1674, he was formally crowned as the chhatrapati (monarch) of his realm at Raigad. Over the course of his life, Shivaji engaged in both alliances and hostilities with the Mughal Empire, Sultanate of Golkonda, and Sultanate of Bijapur, as well as European colonial powers. Shivaji's military forces expanded the Maratha sphere of influence, capturing and building forts, and forming a Maratha navy. Shivaji established a competent and progressive civil rule with well-structured administrative organisations. He revived ancient Hindu political traditions and court conventions and promoted the usage of Marathi and Sanskrit, rather than Persian, in court and administration.
