★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Inayat Khan Rehmat Khan Pathan (Urdu: عنایت خان; 5 July 1882 – 5 February 1927) was the founder of the Sufi Order in the West in 1914 (London) and teacher of Universal Sufism. He initially came to the West as a Northern Indian classical musician, having received the honorific "Tansen" from the Nizam of Hyderabad, but he soon turned to the introduction and transmission of Sufi thought and practice. Later, in 1923, the Sufi Order of the London period was dissolved into a new organization, formed under Swiss law, called the "International Sufi Movement"
His message of divine unity (Tawhid) focused on the themes of love, harmony and beauty. He taught that blind adherence to any book rendered religion devoid of spirit. Branches of Inayat Khan's movement can be found in the Netherlands, France, England, Germany, the United States, Canada, Russia and Australia. In his various written works, such as the Music of Life[1] and The Mysticism of Sound and Music,[2] Inayat Khan interlocks his passion for music with his Sufi ideologies making a compelling argument for music as the harmonious thread of the Universe.

Thursday night sufi kawali is incredibly popular and people from all over the world in huge numbers to be swept up in the magic of the devotional soul stirring music
Best time: The kawali sessions take place twice every Thursday, once at 430pm and the other at 615 pm. I recommend to go slightly early to explore and get a good sport.
Dargah sharif is open on all days 6am to9pm
You may take an opportunity to enjoy some street food , kababs, nahari, korma, chicken tikka around the street when you will come out from Dargah, noora kababs and galib kababs corner is my favourite :) so enjoy the evening at Sufi basti
The nearest metro station is jawahar Lal Nehru stadium

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nizamiddin is the heart of Delhi's sufi world. There are several hidden gems inside the Nizamuddin area that are often ignored. The dargah of Murshid Inayat khan is one of those lesser known monuments. Infact,it is a private property maintained by a trust and photography here is probihited which is a good thing atleast.
This place is quite and serene. You cannot imagine a place like this in a busy and congested area like Nizamuddin.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful, peaceful place for music baithaks, especially early morning ones. All kinds of Indian music baithaks - Dhrupad, Khayal, Ghazal is sung here. People from all over Delhi, and sometimes afar, come and have a listen. It's one of the most loved places in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi.
