Kathgola (also known as Katgola) is a neighbourhood in the city of Murshidabad which was at one time the capital of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa during the reign of the Nawabs of Bengal. Kathgola Bagan Just 4/5 Km north of Hazarduari Palace , this Kathgola Bagan is situated. Its Architecture and engineering is really amazing and worth viewing. Moment you enter , you have to go through a big gate and walkway runs through east to west . In left there is a tunnel which is believed to lead to river Bhagirathi .Now closed completely . Right there is small zoo with lots of variety of birds. Owned by a Jain businessman family, the Dugars, they hired a French architect to renovate a part of the palace in the late 19th century and added the Victorian lions and Michelangelo statues. This palace is a perfect blend of art and architecture and connoisseurs of true art will get a taste of both. Once you go past the marble lions and the statue of Michelangelo, you will see the Adinath Temple inside the premises of the palace. Built in 1933 by Lakshmipat Singh Dugar, you will find 17 images of Jain Tirthankaras and other deities. And as you go inside the palace, you'll be left awestruck by the valuable paintings, mirrors and priceless vintage furniture. A must visit place , INR 20 is the ticket cost .

It is one of the Private Properties in MURSHIDABAD, which is open to Public. It was built by the Dugars and one of their descendents still inherit it. The maintenance of the artifacts and the interiors leaves a lot to be desired. There is a thick layer of dust on anything that is on display. There is a small zoo and a Jain Temple in premises(its the only Jain Temple in MURSHIDABAD). The Temple is neat and well maintained. Not been to the zoo. The garden of roses is only a small fraction of what had been there in the past. There is an underground passage having waterways through which they would communicate with the king and the influential people

Kathgola Bagan Bari was built in the garden premises of Raja Dhanpat Singh Dugar and Lakshmipath Singh Dugar. It is an impressive structure containing a central drawing room, a library, billiard room, bedroom and dining room. This historical palace was built by Lakshmipat Singh Dugar. It is said that once the garden had the most unusual black roses, but now it has mango trees only. There is also a statue of Michelangelo Inside the huge garden. The pool sides are beautiful providing natural ventilation. A must visit place in Murshidabad.

While visiting Murshidaabad make sure to visit this place. The ticket is only ₹30 and there is a lot of things to see here. You may take a guide for ₹50 but if you don't want to spend that much, you can walk around the place by yourself. The history of this place is quite interesting. There is a small zoo with birds and fishes inside. There is also a lot of open space where you can sit and relax and take photos.
