★ ★ ★ ★ ★ At this point we experienced a festival in middle of January on occassion of makar sankranti. Noticed worship of Ganga ( deity of rivers) and nam sankirtan (vaishnav) simultaneously. villagers are helpful. fishing & businesses were paused on that time. ferry service to cross river subarnarekha is available here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the confluence of subarnarekha river with bay of Bengal. Naturally, there are many fishing boats and the people here are mostly fishermen. An hour's drive from chandenaswar Temple(22 km) this spot is an ideal place in the evening. Take the road that passes through the fish cultivation tanks, return through normal road. Roads are narrow but good. The last ferry crossing the river leaves around 3 pm and returns by 5 pm. A boat on hire costs 300/-. Watch the water changing colours as the sun sinks. The sea is clearly visible but to go out to the sea and hence to the island, one has to come in the morning.
