The Kos Minar was built to measure the distance of roads in the Mughal period. These minarets are built every 3 km on the Agra Delhi route. One of these minarets, 30 feet high, must visit this tower situated near the Central Jail Road in Agra.

Very few of them are left now. This is covered by a well maintained park which people nearby use it for walking. But definitely, it gives you a sense of history. These Kos Minard were built by Sher Shah as milestones on the Grand Trunk Road. There are two in Faridabad which I have seen. The other one is near Badarpur.

This place is historical the Kos Minar was made close to the big roads and because this place is close to the Grand Trunk Road or national highway number 2 so this Minar is situated here. These - were made in the time of Shahjahan. These were considered very good to measure the distance in the old time 1 Kos is equal to 3 km. These were made after every 3 kilometre. The playing of cricket and basketball football are banned in the park even though the few childrens are playing cricket right now.

Kos Minars or distance pillars were raised to mark the distance travelled; the minars (pillars) were placed at intervals of a kos (a distance of approximately 4.17 km). These are plastered brick structures standing on square platform. Each minar soars from a tapering octagonal base which is separated from the upper circulatory portion by a molding. This kos minar surviving along the Agra-Lahore highway, in Faridabad was possibly erected during the 17th century when Mughal rulers vastly improved this important route. Although not individually especially impressive, they become so when we consider the large territory they once marked.

The best part of this Kos Minar was that there is a dedicated park around this Minar due to which it is well preserved. There is a well-paved jogging track with lush green lawns and children playing equipment. The minar itself is on a square platform which is fenced with a fencing plant so as to prevent anyone from climbing up to the platform. The Kos Minar is in very good condition. ♿ Accessibility Features: Yes=Ramp access. Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Entrance. Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Restroom/Toilet.
