★ ★ ★ ★ ★ DO VISIT IF ITS YOUR FIRST TIME
Been visiting this place since 2019
Can definitely say that the quality has degraded a bit.
The chutney they offer now doesn't taste the same.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What’s the first thing coming to your mind when you hear of Bihari cuisine? Litti chokha? Yes!!
Having a couple of friends hailing from Bihar, Litti chokha has been a long-time friend. ‘Litti’ are these round wheat dough balls filled with sattu (roasted chickpea flour) and the ‘chokha’ is mashed potato flavoured with cumin, crushed & roasted tomato, coriander and green chillies. The littis are roasted on an open charcoal grill (originally, an open clay oven). The charring leaves a raw edgy taste on them. It is lastly smeared with desi ghee. Served with green chutney, it is a terrific combination of flavours.
But oh, you certainly don’t have to travel all the way to Bihar or look for Bihari households! You are to find the best in town alongside the Bhootnath mandir near Nimtala ghat. Take a ferry to Ahiritola ghat or take an auto ride to the same from Sovabazar. All you’ve got to do is walk towards the Mandir and ask for Shankar Litti Chokha shop.
They serve you 5 small bite sized littis with a generous amount of tangy aloo chokha (it’s out of the world amazing) and the rustic flavour wins your heart. This plate of wonder is priced 30 bucks only! You will not have less than 2 plates.
Adjacent to this shop is a tea stall, probably run by the same family. The man preparing tea seemed to take his tea making very seriously. I noticed him doing some puja and offering tea to his lord and it was then that he started preparing for us mortals. The tea, though seeming less, was quite heavy and had a slice of milk malai on top. It costs 20, served in an earthen glass.
Heavenly meals. A must try.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Taste is good but price is high per quantity. 5 ping-pong ball size litti with chokha chutney is 40. Behaviour is fine. huge crowd gather here at evening specially so one may have to wait to get the gulp. And beside litti chokha you will get tea in matir vanr. Tea taste is super, every ingredients in solid proportion.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Litti Chokha and Matka Chai from this place is heaven. The litti is prepared in the most authentic way and the chokha is super tasty. A complete meal with chai will not cost more than 60 bucks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Litti is good, soft inside with a kind of sweet and tangy flavour. The outside has a charred crust with a natural ghee flavour all in all a good quick bite. The worst part in all this is the hygeine which is completely missing all around.
Hope this helps

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The tea is out of this world. You can easily take 3-4 cuppas in a single go. The leaves a cinnamon and cardamom aftertaste. It is topped with malai. The tea frothing technique is itself inta worthy.
