Used to be a nice place But due to lack of maintenance it's condition deteriorating. Further unwanted vegetation has overgrown in the place making it a kingdom of mosquitoes ?

Old heritage palace, mostly in ruins, one big lake, dried up now, used as playground, front building is inhabited by private persons, could've been maintained better.

Makbara built in 1712 and the hawa mahal bears a serenity . The lush green and the tune of namaz keeps the relic living everyday. Make a wish at kwaja Anwar mazhar, wait for it to come true in the next visit .

The Nawab Bari of Khaja Anwar Berh is a three hundred years old building which is situated in Bardhaman. Surrounded by high walls on all the sides, this structure belongs the Mughal era and the style of architecture employed to construct this building is a perfect blend of the Indo-Syrian style of architecture. You can visit this place at anytime during the day even though the property is claimed to be a private property, Photography is allowed only after permission. There is a Mosque also where people pray. It is great place must visit once but make sure you follow the rules and try to keep it clean and do not litter.. There are no tickets till 12 feb 2022, so if anyone ask make sure to che k properly and dont let yourself get scammed.

Gone are those days of the Mughals...gone are those days of aristocracy, culture, bravado and paying homage...we are no Farrukhsiyer, the Mughal Ruler who built Nawab Bari or Nawab Berh in 1715 to pay tribute to the great Mughal warrior and Chief Commandent of Bengal Khaja Anwar and Abdul Qasim, both came to Burdwan to fight against the Maratha inveders but were ultimately killed in a conspiracy and buried here. No, we are a forgetful race taking pride in our efforts to forget our past heritage and culture. So that famous Nawab Berh is now nothing but a wreckage of the glorious past. As this is still a public property, no maintenance is there..a shameless act on the part of the Government not to take control of this historic monument. That big pond is now totally dry, the whole area is full of weeds, that famous Hawa Mahal...a marvel to watch...is delapidating. The mausoleum of Kaja Anwar is in ruins. And most of all, the famous egg shaped white stone..popularly known as the eggs of mythological Bangoma and Bangomi..are no longer visible. Sad fate of our heritage.

The Nawab Bari is located towards the southern part of Burdwan on Khaja Anwar Road in Burdwan town of Burdwan district. It is originally the tomb of Khaja Anwar. It dates back to the Mughal era. Khaja Anwar and Abdul Qasim were the commanders of the Mughal army. They came to Bengal to tame the Maratha invaders but were killed in a conspiracy. Their bodies were buried here. In 1715, Farrukhsiyar - the Mughal emperor built a monument on their graves as a memorial, presently known as the Nawab Bari or The Nawab Bari of Khaja Anwar Berh. The structure is a marvel of historical architecture with the perfect blend of Indo-Syrian architecture. It is surrounded by high walls. There is a deep pond inside the building with a wind-hall named as Hawa Ghar or Hawa Mahal.

Disputed property. Some local people are not allowing to take photos & claming the property as their own. Otherwise the place is very interesting & has a strong historical background.. people should know the proper history & fact about the place...

Such a great monumental structure. You can go for a visit if you find old and ancient buildings fascinating. There are people living there now so it's a bit chaotic. Anyways a good place but it would be better if the government can preserve it somehow.
