Another marvel of terra-cottah(burnt-brick) architecture from the Malla period. This laterite “eka-ratna” temple was built in the year 1729 A.D. by the Malla king Krishna Singha. The square structure stands on a raised plinth and is about 12.4 mtr. on each side and 10.7m in height and has a curved roof, on which stands a single tower or “Shikhara”. The temple is decorated with bas-relief carvings, originally applied with stucco works.Inside the temple complex, just beside the temple there stands a small brick chariot in the form of a small temple.

This laterite ekratna temple was built in 1729 AD during the time of Krishna Singha as evidenced from the dedicatory inscription on the southern facade of the temple. The temple is square on plan having a curved roof and surmounted by a sikhara at the top. It has few bas-relief carvings, which were originally applied with fine stucco work. By the aide of thi tremple there is a small brick-chariot in the form of a miniature temple.

Bishnupur is a town in Bankura District in the state of West Bengal, India. It is famous for its terracotta temples. For almost a thousand years it was the capital of the Malla kings of Mallabhum. Most of the exquisite terracotta temples for which town is justly famous were built during the rule of Malla Kings. The temple was built in 1758 A.D and is famous for its elaborate decorative motifs. The temple is dome-shaped and stands within a large courtyard enclosed by a boundary wall. The temple has a very high aesthetic appeal through its fine architecture. It is a living temple, The decorative motifs in the temple include floral patterns, puranic scenes and many geometrical depictions. The temple site is well maintained by Archaeological survey of India.

Radha Gobinda term is derived from Mata Radha and Prabhu Krishna. Gobinda is another name of Prabhu Krishna. This temple was built by Malla king Krishna Singh approx 400 years ago. The materials Laterite soil and bricks were used to build this temple. Teracotta arts can be seen on the walls of the temple. One fine garden is attached with this temple. People said, this is one of the auspicious temple in Bishnupur. But now Radhagobinda deity isn't there. Asked people about the deity. They said, with the order of Archeological department, Malla dynasty's new generation has taken out the deity. Before entering the main temple, you will see a small temple which is similar to the main temple. People said, this was the physical blueprint of the main temple. Now the condition of this temple isn't good due to inadequate focus of govt. NB: no entry fees is required to enter the temple. Temple to busstand distance is ~<2 km.

This is an astonishingly exquisite yet comparatively less-visited temple in the historical town of Bishnupur. Located at a mere walking distance from the Chinnamasta Temple, you can visit here to admire the phenomenal ancient architecture made out of laterite soil. All the age-old temples of Bishnupur, including the Radha Gobinda Temple are under the supervision of the Archeological Survey Of India and I must say that they are doing a really commendable job in helping to conserve these iconic heritage sites of West Bengal. Definitely, a highly recommended temple to visit while touring the sacred town of Bishnupur.??
