A well maintained architecture by Archeological survey of India. Terracotta craft on the temple and the garden in front of it are beautiful. One of most attractive places to visit in Bishnupur.

Shyam means Prabhu Krishna but Roy is added that's why we can't have true meaning of this temple. Maybe he was worth character of Hinduism history. This temple has blossomed the beauty of Terracotta art and this temple is made of laterite soil and bricks. This temple was built by Malla king approx 500 years ago. If you see the designs of this temple, you will see three gates which are in same size. Can't even imagine that how the length of three are so accurate. Depicted various Hinduism culture. Listened that Baluchari Tant a high quality saree celebrated in the world got inspiration from this terracotta arts& design. One garden is there which is well equipped has made this temple more peaceful. Outside of the temple you will see some shops, selling soil based products. These products are genuine and quality oriented. Price of the products are skyrocketing. So before purchasing do some bargains. Distance from busstand is < 1km.

It's sad and good at the same time that the temple has now been cordoned and you can only watch it from a distance as over the years, the intricacies of this masterpiece have been destroyed from people touching the walls. This is another must watch of Bishnupur :))

One of the oldest pancharatna terracotta temple of Bishnupur built by the Malla king Raghunath Singh in 1643 AD. One of the dome was collapsed and now it is being renovated.

The temple was built by King Raghunath Singh in 1643, is popularly known as ‘Panch-chura’ temple as it owns five pinnacles. The temple looks beautiful with triple arched passage on its four sides. It is one of the star attractions of Bishnupur because of its breathtaking terracotta art-forms on both interior and exterior panels. are truly representing the terracotta art at its best. Another attraction of this temple is a giant Raschakra that depicts various forms of ‘Radha-Krishna Lila amidst of Gopinis’.

Mallaraja Raghunath Singh built this temple in 1643 AD. For the pleasure of Radha and Krishna, Raja Raghunath Singh, son of Raja Bir Hambir, donated the Navaratna temple in 949 Mallabde or 1843 AD. Shyamraya Temple is a famous terracotta style temple in Bishnupur. The arches around the temple are built on beautiful carved pillars, creating an empty building-like section. On the outer and inner walls of the temple are stories of Raslila, Ramayana and Mahabharata and scenes of various works of art.

(Visited in February 2022) - Pancha Ratna Shyam Rai Temple, is hands-down the pinnacle of the temples of Bishnupur. Attributed to Mallabhum rulers, it's a fantastic masterpiece set in Terracotta with intricate carvings on exteriors and pillars. The temple would go on to inspire the later day famous Dhakineswar temple of Kolkata. Loved the experience!
