★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very oddly placed station. It doesn't have basic requirements, poor connectivity is the major problem of this station. No bus services available, cabs demanding high fares, no food stalls inside the terminal and there is no free WiFi!! Very few trains direct from Howrah station. This station is still under development, hopefully it will serve better near future.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely no facility and connectivity. Need to shell out heavy taxi fare if you have morning train. The premises are poorly maintained and no proper foot bridge and operational restrooms.

Getting a cab is not a problem here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The worst possible example of a terminal station. Reminds that of African lunatic express terminal at Mombasa, even that was better. No public transport connectivity. Only few train moves out from here. No utility shops at platform, outside some shops selling authentic mineral water and not so authetic version of branded cold drinks. Even one roadside hotel is there, serving dinner. E riksaws (toto) pulls passengers (who cant afford car/taxi) from nearby public bus stop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shalimar railway station is one of five intercity railway stations serving Howrah and Kolkata, India.Shalimar station is situated at Shalimar, in Shibpur area of Howrah. It is one of the cleanest, most well-maintained and non-congested railway terminals in Kolkata. One can easily see Vidyasagar Setu from here. The station is under development at the moment.
