It is heritage railway station. It is simply fantastically maintained. Narrow gadge old type engine train runs from Kalka to Shimla route upto here. It is only single track railway line here.

Pros: 1. If there's snow the whole journey will be breathtaking. 2. Better than bus if its snowing 3. U will make friends in this ride. 4. U will meet Mr. Badog Cons: 1. Without snow the views are just normal ones u can see from a bus too. 2. Takes too many halts in snow. Whole journey will take 9 hrs in this case. 3. CC class isn't comfortable P. S. Take a group of friends to fully unlock the experience.

A beautiful destination whose beauty enhances while travelling via toy train. You can enjoy the sceneries and can even travel with clouds on a cloudy day. :P

Shimla is the capital of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, in the Himalayan foothills. Once the summer capital of British India, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla Railway, completed in 1903. It’s also known for the handicraft shops that line The Mall, a pedestrian avenue, as well as the Lakkar Bazaar, a market specializing in wooden toys and crafts. B The former summer capital of the British India, and the present capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla has been blessed with all the natural bounties which one can think of. It has got a scenic location, it is surrounded by green hills with snow capped peaks. The spectacular cool hills accompanied by the structures made during the colonial era creates an aura which is very different from other hill. Bulging at its seams with unprecedented expansion, Shimla retains its colonial heritage, with grand old uildings, charming iron lamp posts and Anglo-Saxon names. The Mall, packed with shops and eateries, is the main attraction of the town, and Scandal Point, associated with the former Maharaja of Patiala’s escapades, offers a view of distant snow clad peaks.Shimla is ideally located, and though there is an air service to the town, it is best reached by road that takes in the charms of the HIMALAYAN countryside at its best. There is a sense of nostalgia about SHIMLA, with its old bungalows and their gabled roofs and beautiful gardens. Shimla the queen of hills.

It is an amazing experience to take the train from Kalka-Shimla across the Himalayas. It is a beautiful journey through the Himalayas with stunning scenery, but it gets boring after about 5 hours. It is worth it to see the views and tunnels from the other side.
