We stayed closer to an entry to the temple from the mountain base where you could drive or even trek up. We decided to trek it up and boy what a trek. Right through the mountain jungles and woods.
The whole trip would easily take you around 3 hours - an hour up and an hour down is minimum for first timers.
It was not an easy one up or downhill but the views once at the top were worth every minute spent climbing up. On the way down do go to the Shiv temple as well, however, the path from thereon down is a bit confusing and easy to get lost, so I would rather suggest to go back to the main road and take the regular path down.
