★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hi All, I had rented one of the apartment in this SOMA Signature under the owner Mujeeb Rahaman. I stayed here for 9 months and paid 15k rent every month to Mujeeb. He additional took 1.5k every month for electricity bill irrespective of the bill (usage) as there was no electric meter set up for this house. I stayed there for just 5 months as I was working from home from my native (Karwar, Karnataka) but never delayed nor missed my rent (16.5 k) but I paid the rent for 9 months. The signed agreement was for 11 months and as per agreement I gave a month notice period and served the same and was agreed by Mujeeb (owner). The house deposit was 70k and I paid the same. I didnt pay the last notice month rent and asked Mujeeb to deduct the same 1 month rent from the deposit for which he agreed. While vacating the house I handed over the keys and Mujeeb promised to refund the remaining deposit amount after couple of months due to lockdown and financial issues. I respected, believed him and agreed and asked him to refund the deposit amount later once he has the money. He has to refund 40k (=70-15-15) i.e. 2 months deduction. One for the maintenance and the other for 1 month rent that I didnt pay. I called him after 4 months and now he is denying to refund stating that I didnt stay for 11 months and I vacated in 10th month and so he is deducting 3 months penalty. He never ever informed this before to us nor he mentioned this in the agreement and now he said that he cannot refund the amount and he blocked my number and is not responding to my calls. I have registered a police complaint for the same as I have a voice recording of him assuring to refund the deposit and I have the agreement copy. Waiting for the response now. Please never go for this house for renting if the owner is Mujeeb who stays on ground floor. He is a fraud. Be aware guys.
