This is a medium category of trek. You can reach here from Karjat station. There are tumtums available outside station near Shivaji maharaj statue. You need to keep the tumtum driver in contact as from Songiri village rikshaws are not available. If you are not following any trek group then you have to carry entire days food with you as there is no facility available nearby. The trek is of medium category, some places are really risky to pass by. One needs to have very good trekking shows and carry a stick along with for support. On the top of the mountain the view is very beautiful and during rains we can actually see clouds passing by.

A short hike (which includes a risky walk on the Mumbai - Pune Railway Line) takes you to the top of Singiri Fort. The fort is located in the mountains around Karjat/Khopoli. Very few remnants of the bygone era exist atop this small fort. There is a water tank but there was little water when we visited in early June.

Dont go via railway tunnel route, its risky during monsoon. You will get lost. I repeat, Don't. Mobile coverage is available throughout the fort. No leopards are here. Better to reach by village route.

Best trek for beginner to explore, one can ascend the place in 3 hrs and descend within 90 minutes . One can get a best view of the lonavala ghat.

Out of the city and over the hill, Into the spaces where Time stands still, Under the tall trees, touching old wood, Taking the way where warriors once stood; Crossing the little bridge, losing my way, But finding a friendly place where I can stay. Those were the days, friend, when we were strong And strode down the road to an old marching song When the dew on the grass was fresh every morn, And we woke to the call of the ring-dove at dawn. The years have gone by, and sometimes I falter, But still I set out for a stroll or a saunter, For the wind is as fresh as it was in my youth, And the peach and the pear, still the sweetest of fruit, So cast away care and come roaming with me, Where the grass is still green and the air is still free. ...

We have visited the fort. The most challenging part was to find the exact rout. We have spend almost 1 hour to find out the exact way to reach to the top. After completing almost 90% trek there is a rock patch, the trail was not clearly visible. And it was covered with grass, you have to very careful while completing this patch. Rest of the trek is easy. But while coming back we lost the trail again and we ended at Mumbai-Pune railway track, so from there we have to walk almost 750 Meters to find the main road. Make sure you mark properly your trail so you can return from the same trail. View is worth it

Moderate level trek, can be done even by beginners. Route is a bit confusing but there are marking at places. It's better to hire a guide. There are two routes, one from Awalas Village, other from Railway tracks. Avoid Railway tracks route especially in monsoon, there are landslides happening that destroy the route. For more details and how to plan a budget trek, check out my video on Songiri Fort YouTube channel: Rutvik Ved

Moderate trek giving full trekking experience. You need about 2:30 hrs to reach till top. The road to the peak becomes stiff so need to carry enough for constant energy. Once you reach the top you will not find many things except for long grown grass and ? flag. There is no any place to rest at the top. So after doing photoshoot you need to start climbing down. Down there you will find few places to take some rest and have some snacks so no worry. As you can constantly get dehydrated you need to carry enough water bottles with you.
