★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Constructed in 18th Century by Maratha Rulers, this is a Beautiful Stepwell!! Don't Compare it with other Stepwells as every place is Unique in its own terms!! This Stepwell was highly neglected by ASI , State and City Government Bodies and Local People used it to Dump Garbage!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This three storeyed stepwell in Vadaj was built in 18th century and perhaps later than Amritvarshini Vav as it has only Sanskrit inscription, now much eroded. It is located next to Mehsana Society
An early attempt to restore it was made in samvat 1991 (1935 AD) by Chunilal and Bhogilal Chinai of Kalupur. As the time went, it became garbage dumping site for the locals. It was restored and desilted by AMC.
It is clean today but not in satisfactory condition. The plaster in its walls is delaminated at many places. A signboard indicating its location has fallen off.

A really nice simple vav, unlike other vavs in Guj which are made of sandstone. Built by the Marathas I've read. It is possible to get to the two galleries in the vav. From the rear of the vav climb to the (thick) wall of the vav. Walk along the wall until you reach steps leading to the galleries. See attached pic. One set of steps on either wall. I was lucky to notice the steps :-)
