★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The exact identity of Bu Halima is a mystery as not many details on her are present.
This name seems foreign amidst a long list of popular historical Mughal names. But then it is there, as an unusual tomb, a garden and a gate located on the western side of the beautifully well maintained Humayun’s Tomb Complex as a rectangular enclosure which is usually ignored by tourists and visitors as they pass by to see the more famous Humayun’s tomb.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is West Gate of Humayun's Tomb & not Bu Halima Gateway
After the Arab Sarai Gateway there is another grand gate, the West gate through which we get the first glimpse of Humayun's Tomb.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Humayun's tomb (Hindustani or Urdu: Maqbara-i Humayun) is the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun in Delhi, India. The tomb was commissioned by Humayun's first wife and chief consort, Empress Bega Begum (also known as Haji Begum), in 1558, and designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son, Sayyid Muhammad,[8] Persian architects chosen by her.[9][10] It was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent,[11] and is located in Nizamuddin East, Delhi, India, close to the Dina-panah Citadel, also known as Purana Qila (Old Fort), that Humayun found in 1533. It was also the first structure to use red sandstone at such a scale.[12][13] The tomb was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993,[11] and since then has undergone extensive restoration work, which is complete.[14] Besides the main tomb enclosure of Humayun, several smaller monuments dot the pathway leading up to it, from the main entrance in the West, including one that even pre-dates the main tomb itself, by twenty years; it is the tomb complex of Isa Khan Niyazi, an Afghan noble in Sher Shah Suri's court of the Suri dynasty, who fought against the Mughals, constructed in 1547 CE.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bu Halima’s tomb garden, also dating from the 16th century, stands abutting Isa Khan’s Tomb at the entrance zone of the
Humayun’s Tomb complex. In the 1920’s portions of the enclosure wall were demolished to make a circular roadway thus
destroying the character of the enclosure as well as disfiguring the historic character of the site with vast quantities of
cement concrete.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Apart from being known for its stunning architecture, this is the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site declared in 1993, and has undergone widespread restoration work since then. The tomb was custom-built by Humayun's son Akbar during 1569-70, and is also the first structure to have made the use of red sandstone at a massive scale.
