Meant to be resthouse for the horses and the Persian artists who was brought to India for the construction of Humayun's tomb by built by Bega Begum(wife of Humayun) .It could accommodate 300 Arabas. It also served as temporary and affordable resting shelter for people visiting the wishing to stay at the tomb.

This 14 meter high gateway led to the walled enclousuer which housed the Persian craftsmen who came here to built Humayun's Tomb. Red sandstone and white Marble work add a striking touch to the gateway mostly built of Delhi's quartzite stone. The projecting jharokhas still display remnants of the glazed ceramic tiles. Major portion if Arab ki Sarai today is industrial training institute inaccessible to visitors

Very beautiful gate. Built in the 16th century where Persian craftsman were used to live. Its very near to humayun's tomb and one can visit it while going towards humayun's tomb. Its very beautiful and something to visit atleast once. Tho there is not kuch to see as it's in ruins now. But still you can go there and delhi government is rebuilding it in the nizamuddin urban renovation program.

Mughal emperor Humayun's widow Haji Begum built this serai in 1560 to shelter three hundred Arab mullahs whom she was taking with her during her hajj to Mecca; however, Y.D. Sharma opines that the word Arab in the title is a misnomer as this building was built for the Persian craftsmen and workers who built the Humayun's Tomb. In January 2017, the Aga Khan Trust for Culture started a project to conserve the serai. The restoration was completed in November 2018. In March 2019, the trust announced a planned project to conserve the baoli (stepwell) of the serai with the help of funds from the embassy of Germany. This building along with other buildings form the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Humayun's Tomb complex.
