★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dumdum is one of the busiest stations in west Bengal. Hasnabad, Bongao, Ranaghat, Majherhat, Dankuni, Kalyani, Krishnanagar etc stations are connected through this station. Some trains connecting other states also pass. The ticket counters are always full of lines. If you go outside, all types of vehicles are available.

1. Eastern Railway.
2. Metro Rail.
3. Circular Rail.
You can get to reach both sides of the Ganges from here, though the overwhelming focus is on the Sealdah section, both the main and the chord line. Also, Metro rail would take you to the downtown Kolkata and even furthest southern city suburb.
OMG, it's a great place to watch human population. Name any sort of Bengali / Indian person, and you'll find her/him here. Also, some brilliant roadside food kiosks and tea-vendors are there to tickle your taste buds. And, lest I forget, it's got a huge and thriving veggie and fish market at a stones throw distance. So, an added boon for the daily commuters.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very important place of communication. Two sets of local train ticket counters and Reservation counters for long distance trains are there. There is also Metro railway station here connecting Garia and Dakhineswar. There's a big vegetable and fish market just beside the station. Auto rickshaw is always available here to go to Kolkata Railway station and RG Kar Medical College Hospital and also to Sinthee More. At the vicinity of the station there's a small bus terminus. A few long distance busses running from here. On the roadside bus service and auto rickshaw is also available for going to Nager Bazar, Airport, R G Kar Medical College and Sinthee Morre.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dumdum railway station is a junction station. It is very important railway station for citizens of Kolkata. You can go Ranaghat, Krishnanagar, Kalyani, Bongao, Sealdah, Bangaon, Dankuni, Gede, Santipur, Naihati, Habra, Hasanabad, Jangipur road etc from here. Metro station is attached with it. 5 platforms are here. Toilet is in platform no 1. There are two tickets counters in platform no 4 and 5. There are two railway crossing over bridge 1 platform to another platform. So many tea stalls and you and get any food easily here. My experience is good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a junction railway station in between sealdah subarb rail network. From here you can go ranaghat - krishnagar, Bangaon, dankuni,budgebudge direction and circukar rail. This is a main hub of subarb rail network . Dont try to catch local train from here during weekdays office time. Only super expert and highly professionals can do this stunt.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dumdum station take a important place as it is connected with many stations like hasnabad,bangao,Ranaghat,Majherhat,Dhankuni, Sheldao, etc. The metro station also near by. Long distance train ticket are available here and for sometimes a you have to wait in line. I had visit here to Sheldao. The train was just in time.
