★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lakshagriha (house of lacquer) is located near Handia on the bank of Ganges about 42 km from Prayagraj. According to Epic Mahabharat, Duryodhana planned to kill Pandavas by burning, so a palace was made from lacquer, and invited them to stay there. The palace was a death trap for Pandavas as lacquer is highly flammable. However, Pandavas were escaped from Lakshagriha through a tunnel to the river Ganges. The ruins of the tunnel exist here. The place is of mythological importance and a must visit place.
