★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tamang Buddhist Monastery is one of the many Buddhist shrines in Bodhgaya. Modest and economically underprivileged Tamang Ethnic group of Himalaya is reflected in their shrine house here. Whereas Monasteries of all other Buddhist traditions are huge, primely located and overy decorated, Tamang Buddhist Monastery at Bodhgaya is mere small building housing few deities and located next to the public toilet. Visitors are generally unknown about Tamang Buddhist people and their temple here. It is an examplry work indeed of such community to be able to build still a descdent shrine in such a holy place. If you have some spare time while in Bodhgaya, find Nepali Temple Road and this Temple. It is a Nyingmapa sect shrine house.
