One of the holiest destinations for the Hindus, the Triveni Sangam is perhaps the most important place to visit in Allahabad. Confluence of three rivers – the Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati (a mythical river which is supposed to have dried up thousands of year ago), the Triveni Sangam holds a very high position when it comes to India’s spirituality. All the three rivers are considered immensely holy in India and it is but obvious that their meeting point is one of pious energy. To believe mythology and popular faith, a dip or bath at the sangam helps one wash away all their sins that have collected over the lifetime. It is also believed to have emancipating the human soul from the bondage of birth and death. This is what religion and faith says and even if you choose to ignore them, there are ample reasons for one to pay a visit to the Triveni Sangam. The merger of the rivers is a pleasant sight to the human eyes. We suggest you take a boat ride on the confluence point and you will clearly see the difference in colours of water from the two rivers. The water from the Ganges is clear while the Yamuna is greenish in colour. A truly blissful experience!?❤❤❤❤❤

Prayagraj Sangam is such a confluence where 3 rivers meet. Which is the first river, the Ganges river and the second river is the Yamuna river and the third river is named Saraswati, which is secret if it is believed in this confluence. So the Saraswati river flows from inside by mixing in both the rivers, which is not visible here, there are many mysterious stories related to ancient times, which are still very long and related to history here. There are many things that you will get to see and explore and at the same time you will start your day well.

Triveni or sangam means confluence of three rivers viz. Ganga, yamuna and Saraswati, though two Ganga and Yamuna are visible and Saraswati is not visible. Triveni at Prayagraj is a major pilgrimage place for hindu devotees. After 12 years Kumbh fair is also held here also every yea Magh mela is celebrated. There are numerous boat service providers who for a nominal fee take pilgrims to the sangam for paying homage and bathing. They have created sand pedistal at the confluence for ease of access to pilgrimage. People bath here to ward away sins. They also collect some nominal charges for bathing at sangam as well. Only con here is cleanliness, local people who earn from pilgrims should form an association or something to keep the river banks clean. I visited here first time and it was a soulful experience.

The place where 3 Holy Rivers meet is called Triveni Sangam - Ganga, Yamuna and unseen Saraswati. Due to Magha Mela there was lot of rush and hence I visited in the evening though recommended in the morning where you can see Ganga and Yamuna with 2 distinct colours merging beautifully at the Sangam. Nowadays Ganga aarti is also performed though in a small way after sundown. The statue of Ganga Maa is also located close by. Near the Sangam is Allahabad Fort and many Temples especially the Bade Hanuman Mandir where Hanuman ji is in sleeping position., which is very rare. Due to Magha mela hundreds of tents and temporary bridges have been constructed, perhaps reused from the Kumbha Mela event held in 2019.
