One of the landmark structures of Kolkata. Built in memory for queen Victoria over the span of 15 years from 1906-1921. Built completely in Makrana marble mined in Rajasthan. It comprises a memorial building and museums. Museums explain about the history of Kolkata and British colonial exploits over them. Total atmosphere is very calm and peaceful with meadows and lakes around it. Worth to spend a day with your family. It requires a entry ticket which is very minimal. Must visit place in Kolkata.

Its one of the most iconic places of Kolkata. Those who like to visit historical places will definitely love this. It was built around 100 years ago. Victoria Memorial has a huge architectural value. Its has been converted into a museum. Its made of white marble and is surrounded by lush green gardens. The entry fee is Rs. 20 which may have changed over time. Although you find a lot of couples here, it is a decent place to visit with family.

The Victoria Memorial Hall, or Victoria Memorial, is a memorial to Queen Victoria. It is located on the banks of the Hooghly River in the city of Calcutta. Its construction started in 1906 and it was inaugurated in 1921. There are huge doors on both the north and south sides of this building. Inside there is a beautiful garden. Built on about 64 acres of land, the building is 103.02 meters long and 69.49 meters wide. This building is made entirely of white stone. It is now a National Museum and one of the most important tourist attractions in Kolkata. This is the most beautiful place in Kolkata. When I visited it I was very surprised to see its construction and surroundings. The authorities always keep it very tidy. There are separate tickets for the entrance to the garden and the main building. At that time the ticket price per person was 10 rupees for Indians and 200 rupees for foreigners. This beautiful place is still fresh in my mind.

Beautifully maintained place. Beautiful gardens and ponds surrounding the white marble monument. Some of the sculptures are fabulous. The gardens open from 0530-6 in the early morning and that seems to be the best time to go nowadays. The sun is up and it's cool. The entry to the garden is Rs 20 per head. Toilets inside are well maintained. Lots of trash cans around to help people keep the gardens clean. The museum opens at 11 am. I've put lots of snaps.

Victoria Memorial is a British-era structure built entirely of white marble. A 16-ft-tall bronze statue, the figure of the Angel of Victory, stands atop the grand building. It’s mounted on ball bearings & revolves with the wind. Victoria Memorial is the signature building of Kolkata, which was once the capital of British-run India. It's another example of the intriguing mix of Indian and European architectural influences.
