Trust me, most of the reviews are here misleading. People are complaining here regarding delay in Visa service, but trust me, if your application is flawless and if you adhere to the Visa application check list properly, then you will get your Visa without any delay. I applied for Schengen Visa for the first time from Bangalore on 19.09.2019. My application reached Austrian Embassy on 20.09.2019 and my Visa was issued on 09.10.2019;i.e. within 12 working days. So, if your application is flawless, be sure that the Embassy has no interest in delaying your Visa Approval. Please stick to the check list. Beware of the visa agents "no need to pay extra"

BEWARE - This is the most worst embassy ever in INDIA. Its been more than a month and I have still not received an update on my tourist visa application. I have made multiple attempts to contact the embassy but there has been no response. Today is my travel date and I have had to cancel my plans. If they don't want people traveling to their country, then they should just not have an embassy in India. I spoke to VFS and they told me that this embassy usually creates a lot of issues for applicants and does not process visas on time. I'm not sure how an international embassy in a large country like India could function in such an inefficient manner. Not that writing a Google review will change anything but hopefully people who read this will be cautious when applying for a visa here. DO NOT APPLY HERE> in Interview they ask a stupid question why Austria why not London? Then you Give answer and they makes fun of you in front of 3 guys. Shame on you Austrian people. Are they monkey?

Whatever people say, I can assure you,if your papers are ready as they have informed you, within 20 minutes you can finish the appointment in the embassy. And be there in the embassy by 8 am with the exact amount of cash ( indian rupees) ,the necessary certificates in order(don't staple any papers) passport and a pen. Submit the documents to the security, he will take the certificates inside After some time u are called in U can't take anything inside except the cash and pen. There is a wash room inside for girls on the left and boys on the right as u enter inside. They ask you about your german language and u have to introduce yourself in german language. That's all. Thank you

So, what an amazingly pointless the whole process is for RWR+ card. Every person you try to reach via any social media to share his / her experience will give you an amazing and different version of the frustration they go through to get RWR+ card. Let me sort it out in different topics. And yes one important point, you collect your RWR+ card in Austria.Once you get an approval from Austrian Embassy, you again apply for Visa D, via VFS Global, to enter Austria and then collect the RWR+ card. Visa D needs 15 days. Everything below is for RWR+ application. You will learn for Visa D on your own via emails from Embassy. Do not worry on that part. Going through RWR+ application will make you strong enough to handle Visa D on your own : 1. Processing Period: Amazingly the processing period is 6 months as per Embassy and is communicated to you in the Embassy (and yes the Covid situation was not there when I applied). You get visa for 1 year and processing time is 6 months. Funny isn't it? Ask any past applicant on Social media, the period ranges from 6 weeks to 14 weeks. So keep your hopes low and yes this wait is very frustrating as they do not update a single thing related to your Visa application. There is no portal to track. Not a single reference number will be given to you. 2. Insurance: The Embassy will ask for an Insurance, that too without specifying any criteria like how much period it should cover. The first question that will pop up is from when the insurance should start. Yes, this is an international insurance so it is obvious that you need to be clear on your flying date. But then they will ask for this document for RWR+ application. So you end up paying for international insurance just for the application purpose and you never fly in that period. Insurance makes sense only for Visa D application as you also buy a ticket for this Visa D and you will be clear on your flying date and then insurance will make sense. But do not search for any sense while you are working with Austrian Embassy. 3. Fees for application: Fees is fixed in Euro and is to be paid in INR, and hence conversion rate comes into picture. This conversion rate is changed every month. When you ask for Visa appointment date they share the exchange rate but you always get the appointment date of next month and hence the exchange rate changes. For eg: I drop an email for appointment in February, they give the date somewhere in March. They never update you the latest conversion rate. And then they ask you to bring exact amount. Do not expect them to give you even a 1 rupee coin as a help. When I asked for the latest exchange rate over email a week before my appointment, they replied to me after my appointment was done. Do not know what I was suppose to do with that reply. Wish I had the power to complain against such lazy employees. 4. Reply to your emails: Never expect a reply on your application status from them. I do not think Delhi Embassy has any say in the process. They are just acting as postman and will send the document from India to Austria. That is it. So just wait and wait and wait for your RWR+ approval. Nothing else is in your hand. Trust me. Nothing!! For everything else, keep sending reminders and can expect reply on 3rd reminder. I got reply to my email after 2 reminders and wait of 5 months. Amazing right? Welcome to Austria my friend. 5. Treatment at Embassy: Just pray that the "lady" is not there on the counter to accept your application. Just ask about her from previous applicants and you will know why I am highlighting this point. :D 6. German Language requirement: I have met innumerable people who are here without A1 level knowledge working and also their dependents. And yes, if you have an older A1 certificate, make sure it is not older than 1 year. Even though the certificate has no validity, the Embassy will ask for certificate not older than 1 year. Enjoy your stay ;)

A very very well organised place. They have waiting area at the gate. Get every documents they mention on their website as the visa requirements. The security will first look at your password and calls you at your mentioned appointment time. NEVER STAPLE THE DOCUMENTS ANYWHERE AND HAVE THE EXACT CHANGE AND POSSIBLY NEW CURRENCY NOTES FOR PAYMENT OF YOUR VISA APPLICATION. The whole process takes like 15 mins Max inside out.
