Foundation stone of Cetiyagiri vihara enshrining (consist) the sacred relics of ARAHANS SARIPUTTA AND MOGGALLANA constructed by the MAHA BODHI SOCIETY of Ceylon (now Sri lanka) was laid by Sikander saulat iftikhar-ul-mulk nawab mohammad hamidullah khan bahadur [RULER OF BHOPAL] on Saturday the 27th December 1947C.E/2491 B.E.
Opening of this vihara was performed by first prime minister of India - Pandit Jawahar lal nehru on 30th November 1952.
EXPERIENCE
The chaitygiri vihar temple is an Buddhist temple built by maha bodhi society of sri lanka.
The temple is now very old constructed around 1947.
The temple floor have white marbel and all the walls have paintings which shows the life of Siddhartha after becoming Gautam Buddha and a painting of jawahar lal nehru and a monk.
The main statue of the chaitygiri temple is of buddha.
There is a small store there consist of books, statues and other stuffs like that.
Capturing photos inside is ban but i capture some of them because the care taker is on phone call.
A very beautiful temple.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's owsome place if you want to see actual crowd then you should come in November last sat and Sunday..
Other wise it's nice to come August the seen is owsome ticket price is 40rs in cash 35rs in card for adults.
And for guide 475rs it will take around 1.5 hours to explain each and wvery thing

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice temple in the uphill. Very calm and devotional environment inside the temple. Inside the temple art work describes about buddha. Small stall containing books, statue, wooden work materials is there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Another UNESCO world heritage site, the sanchi stupa is an extraordinary place due it's magnificence and grandeur. The main stupa is great work of art and architecture with engravings related to life of Buddha and his teachings. Other than the stupa there are other smaller stupas as well and temples. It's near to Bhopal , around 40-45 kms.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This mahabodhi society temple was inaugurated by jawaharlal nehru, and contains relics of shariputra and maudgalanya, two main disciples of the Buddha. It is just next to Sanchi stupa. On the walls are beautiful paintings from the life of the Buddha. It also has a small bookshop. It closes at 5 pm. It's quite peaceful, good atmosphere to sit and meditate. No photos are allowed inside.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This Chaityagiri Vihar or Mahabodhi Temple was established on November 29, 1952 to keep the holy remains of Sariputta and Maha Mogallanna, the two prime disciples of Lord Buddha. Temple was inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru.
A holy place for Buddhism followers.An annual event is held at Sanchi in which the holy remains are displayed in november during the annual Chetiyagiri Vihar festival.
