The Horniman Circle Gardens is a large park in South Mumbai, India, which encompasses an area of 2½ acres (10,100 m²). It is situated in the Fort district of Mumbai, and is surrounded by office complexes housing the country's premier banks. Designed to be a large open space with grand buildings in the middle of the walled city, the area had been known as Mumbai Green in the 18th century, while the Elphinstone. Following India's independence in 1947, the area was renamed in honour of Benjamin Horniman The building was begun in 1821 and not completed for twelve years. In 1842, the area had been just a dump of coconut shells and debris. The Police Commissioner, Charles Forjett, thought of converting the Green into a circle surrounded by buildings. He was supported by governors Lord Elphinstone and Sir Bartle Frère. The garden was planned in 1869 and completed in 1872 with well laid out walkways and trees planted all around.[1] An ornamental fountain was placed in the centre, but it was replaced by a modern art deco iron pipes design. The park was a favourite social venue of the Parsi community. In the pre-independence era, a band used to perform there every evening. The Asiatic Society of Mumbai overlooks the Horniman Circle Gardens and the Reserve Bank of India. Close by (on Veer Nariman Road) is St. Thomas Cathedral, the first Anglican church in Mumbai, completed in 1718.

Beautiful pre independence architecture. This place gives the real Bombay vibes. Such pretty british architectural buildings take us back to those times. Places like these are the identity of mumbai

Well it is great place for it's unique vintage look. In the morning sun hits in the building pillars which gives adorable views for photographers. Eventually in the morning mostly you can see photographers are surrounded throughout the area it makes little mess to take good photos still it has view which is unpredictable. And the next side there has library which has stunning look with white background even. So you can vist the place for free of cost. But still it has drawbacks like most probably the walk way are not clean and tidy but still BMC are making there development over these places

Everyone reading this already knows the beauty of fort's architecture. The vibe hits different when you've lived in this city your entire life. No matter how many times you come here. It is as beautiful as ever. The Horniman Circle is another such example in Bombay. Accompanied by the Church and the Asiatic Library where you can park your bikes and sit for a while just to achieve a sense of calm, is what makes Bombay, Bombay.

Nice chill park in the center of a roundabout. Once inside there are different areas of the park. There's even a playground for kids. Fountain was drained. But good to see there's a park to take a break, along with all the different species of birds around. FYI Only one entrance and exit.
