If you are going to this fort, take enough water and some food with you. Because you won't find anything in the whole way.It takes at least an hour to reach this fort from the village. Recently Sahyadri Pratishthan has placed new wooden door on this fort. There are two ways to climb the fort. There is a beautiful idol of Lord Hanuman at the entrance of the fort. I'll suggest everyone to visit this fort in Mansoon season.

Easy Fort.. Good for beginners... In rainy season, it was quite difficult through Kokan Darwaja... Below route is highly recommended if you want to cover entire fort ... Igatpuri station to Tringalwadi Village (2 hour Walk or private vehicle) - Tringalwadi Dam - Take right side route from Dam towards Talyachi Vadi - 10-15 minutes walk to reach Jain caves form Talyachi Vadi - See Beautiful Caves - From the left side of caves, one route goes to Fort (45-60 minutes) - Once reach on plateau, keep the fort on ride side to reach the Kokan Darwaja - See the Darwaza & Hanuman Idol - Visit Vadyache avshesh (5-10 minutes from Darwaja by taking right route) - Head towards Top of the fort - Experience great view of hills - Descend from other side, you can directly reach to Bhawani Mata temple - Head towards Wada - on the way you can see water Cistern ( water is not drinkable) - start descend & keep the dam on left side - one can reach within 30-45 minutes to Tringalwadi Dam Enjoy ☺️☺️☺️

Excellent place to spend time with your friends and family. The fort is located around 9 km from igatpuri. The road to this fort goes through small villages which are surrounded with beautiful farms and ladscapes. Local people are very kind and helpful. There is a jain leni(caves) at the bottom of the fort. Its mostly ruined but still gives a good feeling. The trek takes around 2 hours to reach the top. You will be mesmerized with the breathtaking views from the top. Trek is pretty easy. But there is a patch of steep steps where you have to be careful(see photos). After you pass through the steps, there is a Hanuman mandir near fort's entrance. At the top, there is a small shiva temple and it is almost invisible due to fog. In monsoon, there are lot of waterfalls around the fort and everything is covered in dense fog. I would recommend to visit this place in monsoon season. Its the best time to enjoy the nature.

History : Although the exact period of construction of this fort is not known, however, by virtue of ‘Jain caves’ near the foothills, one can roughly estimate the fort to be in existence since 10th century. Also there is no evidence regarding the period during which it was under control of Marathas, however, during the year 1688; Mughals took control over the fort by perfidy. As one approaches this fort through Tringalwadi village at the foothills of the fort, we come across ‘Pandav leni’ caves. These caves are divided into three major areas viz. an outer verandah, ‘Vihar’, the abbey and internal ‘Garbhagriha’. Its entrance door is decorated with beautiful carvings on it. A statue of Lord Gautam Buddha can be seen inside the ‘Vihar’. Below this sculpture one can see the inscriptions carved on the stone. Three of the four pillars of Verandah are collapsed. As we proceed further towards the fort we come across a cave situated enroute to the fort prior to the beginning of the steps. Palatial remnants are seen in front as one climbs up these steps. Returning back from the palace, a way towards right hand side of the steps leads us to many dry cisterns. Moving further ahead from here for about 5 to 10 minutes, we arrive at a large cave near the foothills of the hillock lying on the left hand side of the road. About 20 – 25 persons can be accommodated in this cave. Again after a short walk ahead, we come across underground cisterns, the water of which is suitable for drinking. Pillars of these cisterns are carved with beautiful designs. The path ahead leads to the temple of Lord Shiva. Talgad/ Talegad and Igatpuri to the south; Kalsubai to the east; Trimbak range, Harihar and Basgad to the north may be seen from the brim of the fort in front of the temple. Returning back to the beginning of the steps we see the remnants of a palace in front of it. Leaving back these steps we have to move ahead and then take a right turn towards the devastated castle leads us further ahead to the secret doorway of the fort after taking a right turn from the same path, one has to climb down to reach this door. Further down step one can notice the door being carved within a single sheet of rock. On its right hand side one can see a statue of Lord Hanuman, about 6-7 feet high. A carved step on the mountain ahead leads to the top of the fort. It takes approximately 1 hour to see the prominent spots on the fort. Ways To Reach : Via Tringalwadi Village : One is expected to reach Igatpuri railway station, which is well connected by rail route from Mumbai and Nasik. After exit from the station towards the S.T. stand end, there is a junction called Ambedkar Chowk before the S.T. stand. From this junction proceed along the route towards Vagholi col which is at a 30min. of walk. After moving down the col, a left turn takes us to the Tringalwadi village within half-an-hour. Hiring jeep from Igatpuri to Tringalwadi village via Ghoti is also a good alternative to reach Tringalwadi village. Behind Tringalwadi village lies the Tringalwadi dam. After crossing the entire length of the dam wall a road on the right leads us to the foothills of this fort. We come across ‘Pandav leni’ as we approach the foothill of the fort. It takes about half-an-hour to reach the top of the fort.

Tringalwadi fort is very beautiful and best trek to do in rainy season. This is located in igatpuri taluka near ghoti. The roct cutting stairs is famous and important part of this fort. On base of this fort there is jain leni in caves . This is very small trek so everyone can go and enjoy. View looks very beautiful from top of fort.

Awesome place to visit, not much crowd and easy hike for youngsters. Make sure you go with the local guide. Guide takes 100 rupees for entire trip. You can complete it in a day. From Igatpuri station it is 10 to 12 km. There are 3 stages, 1st an easy hike if small Mountain, 2nd towards fort, here you have 2 ways to reach to the main fort, left side way is not suitable if you have kids with you, better way to reach up is through the right side entry. Once u reach up, it's awesome ?
