Bharhut is 300 km to the northeast.

However as per ASI,the temple is associated with king Bhoj (1000AD)...It is an unfinished Shiva temple...reasons unknown..shivalinga is 7.5 feet..made of single stone...largest in the world! Architecture is unparalleled... temple is popular as Bhojeshwar temple
