Average station with basic amenities, poor food stalls, better to eat something outside market near it. Most of the trains are for Bihar. Bus and taxi stand within its premises. Use pre paid booth for booking taxi as the drivers charge very high without it.

Kolkata is the capital of India's West Bengal state. Founded as an East India Company trading post, it was India's capital under the British Raj from 1773–1911. Today it’s known for its grand colonial architecture, art galleries and cultural festivals. It’s also home to Mother House, headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity, founded by Mother Teresa, whose tomb is on site

Kolkata Railway Station formerly known as Chitpur Station and its station code is KOAA. This station is very neat and clean. And security check here is very high. Overall it was a good experience. This station is near to R.G Kar hospital. From hospital its nearly 5mins of walking distance. Also a plus point is, they got escalators and also staircase.

Kolkata Railway Station (Old Chitpur Station) is very close to Shyambazr 5 points crossing & nearby R. G. Kar Medical College & Hospital. Very spacious, well lighted Station with 5 platforms. Ramps, instead of usual stairs, are available to shift between platforms. For going up, escalators are also available. However, not many Expees or Mail trains originate & terminate out of Kolkata Station. Kolkata Dhaka Maitri Express ooerates from Kolkata Station. Immigration & Customs are done in Kolkata Station for Dhaka Passengers. Taxi stand is there. But, availability might be a problem at late night arrivals. Besides, reaching Kolkata Station by taxis becomes difficult sometimes because of taxi Drivers' unwillingness to go there. Very few bus routes are starting from Kolkata Station. Kolkata Station renovation was done with a view to lower the passenger load from Sealdah Station. However, that purpose is still not fully met because of several problems.

This is a well maintained, and clean railway station. It opened quite recent 10 years back so it's relatively new. The crowd isn't much probably owing to the fact that fewer trains originate from here. The connectivity is quite good although not so great like Howrah railway station. It suffers from downsides too for example food facilities aren't that great and hardly any options for food are available. I'm inclined to give it 3 stars but never had any bad experience here so giving it a 4. Hope it gets better and better.
